During the school year, I take weekly art classes, and I'm grateful for this opportunity to be creative and make time for something I otherwise would never fit into my schedule. Here are photos of the six paintings I did this past year.
I spent most of the fall semester working on this painting, which is based on a photograph Sophie's roommate took of her when they were in Charleston together over spring break. The first time I saw this picture, I knew I wanted to paint it, but I found it very difficult to convey all the tiny details and vibrant colors on canvas. It was stressful and time-consuming to complete this painting, but now that it's done, it's one of my absolute favorites.
This turtle was my first experience using acrylics. I used oil paints to get the detail on the shell, sand, and turtle body, but the base from which I started was all in acrylic.
