Spring 2017 Photos

This year, I have taken my camera with me almost everywhere and amassed an unseemly number of photos. I've managed to keep up with editing and printing them, but fell so behind in sharing them online that I'm posting spring pictures shortly before Halloween. Oh, well. They're still pretty.

This spring was difficult for me, because I was struggling with health setbacks, challenging classes, and changes in my social life as I further adjusted to having friends scattered in different directions. Nonetheless, spring was a beautiful season, and looking at pictures reminds me that difficult chapters of life always look better once you're done with them. I'm grateful for the grace that when trials have passed, I can enjoy the beautiful moments without carrying the ever-present consciousness of struggles.
A sibling left these in the garage. Nothing takes me back to my childhood quite like the sight and smell of wild onions.
This next photo is of a sunset through glass doors at my childhood friend Nicole's engagement party. The picture doesn't even begin to do the colors justice.

That evening, I met Nicole's fiance for the first time, and when she introduced him to me, he said, "Oh! You're the one who wrote that hilarious blog post!" I was so pleased that this was his association with me. One of the highlights of my spring, truly, was having permission to share on my blog how Nicole was once tormented by an unwanted admirer at a youth retreat. Back in 2009, I never dreamed that story would one day be a subject of conversation at her engagement party.
This picture is of a display at the new library in town. As of this September, I'm working there for a year while mine is closed for expansion.
Even though this spring was challenging, I never ran out of great things to journal about.
