Botanical Gardens 2015

My mom and I went out of town this week to celebrate her father's eighty-ninth birthday, taking him to the local botanical gardens with my grandmother, uncle, and cousin. It was nice to see everyone again, and even though I had already been to this same location two times before, there were lots of changes and many new things to see. I enjoyed the outing and took a ludicrous amount of pictures, wanting to make sure I got some I really liked.

Previously, we went in December 2013 and June 2014. This year, there was an entirely new area of the park opened up, and in addition to that, there were sculptures all throughout the regular part of the gardens, advertising some artists from Zimbabwe: there were lots of birds, modern art designs, and maternal designs represented, and the work was quite impressive. I enjoyed seeing the art, and it added interest all throughout the familiar locations.

This picture is hardly grand from a photographic standpoint, but look at this critter we spotted!

One feature of the new area of the park was a gazebo with wrought iron sides. Each section had a different picture, and this was one of my favorites.

"Wait! Stop! Take a selfie!" says this sign. My soul convulsed in horror. Can I not even go on a nature walk without being bombarded with the galling banality of modern society? It's not even a classy selfie. It's an uncommitted duck face and floppy peace sign. WHY?
"You're part of this generation," my uncle pointed out. It's true... but that doesn't mean I have to like it!
